Adorable and quiet! Friendly staff, very clean shop. I love that they have books for sale! *Menu is a bit limited, but the coffee is good quality. *Beverage cups are a bit like Japanese tea cups, which means the larger size used for serving coffee feels a bit like a soup tureen at first because there is no handle. This means those of us lacking bear paws have to put our book down to sip coffee. *The vibe is quiet and relaxed, and there is extra seating downstairs in the buikding common area; you coukd easily get cofdee and go to one of the larger downstairs tables to chat with a larger group. *ADA accessible via elevator; parking and main door are accessible. (Note: I did not check restroom accessibility.)
I came here with some friends for a morning coffee. I got the seasonal granny latte. It was perfection!! I highly recommend this spot for anyone looking for a delicious coffee!
Came on a Sunday morning in the middle of a road trip for some much needed coffee and I absolutely loved this hidden gem! Prélude is almost too light of a word—it truly is a symphony in here 🎶 The 8th street market location is gorgeous, with plenty of sunlight, windows, and plants alongside a more industrial feeling decor. It provided the perfect safe and cozy recharge space to read and enjoy some quality coffee! ☕ 🌿 Couldn't decide between a cortado or drip coffee so I got both, which were excellent (and not too expensive either). They offer both bottomless drip and one serving. The dishes were beautiful (and possibly seasonal, looks like they had a pastel collection this time, but I've seen deep yellows in other photos) and the tiny details like a mini board game section, local art, a mini community library, and a small vintage clothing rack made this place absolutely charming. I wish I was local to become a frequent customer!
Stopped in on a rainy Sunday morning. Place was quiet, mostly empty. The cashier was excellent at giving us recommendations for our first visit. My girlfriend had a honey-cinnamon latte and I had a specialty cortado. But were excellent, contended with Elemental and Clarity for best we've had in the city so far. Service was very friendly, and the place was chill. The pastries we had with our coffees were also excellent. We'll be back sometime for sure!
The latte was so good I had TWO. The service and staff... wonderful. The ladies working this morning were super kind and just great at what they do. The only thing I didn't love about this place is that there were no snacks. And I love a yummy snack (muffin/toast/pastry) to have with a coffee. So don't come here hungry or bring ya own coffee cake ;). It was quiet but not too quiet. I read a book waiting on my friend and then we were able to catch up on all the things once she was there without feeling like we were talking too loudly or feeling like we were in a library.
Prelude has always reminded me of the first local coffee shops that back when there was only one Starbucks in OKC. Those pioneers have given us so many wonderful experiences. Prelude is a warm and inviting space. A great place to get coffee, but also a great place to get some work done. They have retail options from local art, coffee beans, and even some vintage clothing. I got the Kyoto cold brew which is a slow drip process. It has a great flavor. Enjoy!
Before my road trip home began I decided to stop and get something hot to drink to warm me up on a cold night. Nothing wrong with chain coffee places there is a time and place for them as well and I do stop by and frequent them as well but if I can I like finding new none franchise facilities to experience. With all that being said this location has a few intriguing things about it. Not only is it located in the 8th Street Market which seems to be a unique group of different businesses (mainly food and drinks) from what I could tell by the little bit of time I was there. They were also having a trivia night there last Sunday. I love that because not only does it bring together the community but it's educational too. Some of the other things about here that I liked is that they support local artists and if you like things like that or are interested in the somewhat peculiar or not typical artwork they have that. Don't get me wrong they have artwork of all kinds from very talented artists so I'm not knocking any of them and I liked what I saw. I believe art should express and connect feelings and what I saw definitely did that. Now to the coffee or more like London Fog Latte that I ordered (blend of tea and oat milk no coffee) I appreciated that they actually took the time to let it steep for 4 minutes, bringing out the aromatic flavors and intensity that you would want. One of the things that I enjoy about the London Fog is that it's relaxation in a cup. You smell the bergamot and the floral lavender scents. It's subtle yet slightly sweet and calming. Frothing the oat milk slightly to create a foam on top that I particularly enjoy. The 2 ladies working there last night were polite and knowledgeable.
Of all places in the OKC metro north of I-40, this is the most flavorful, most consistent, enjoyable coffee. We drink at all shops north of I-40 and this is my only five star because of their consistency, friendliness and quality. They have great seasonal drinks that the engineer I. House with their own custom-made syrups. They are definitely opinionated on their coffee but are always willing to work with people who ask off menu. They are edgy but engaging. It's a type of fun attitude that makes the coffee play a treat. They don't do their own baked goods, but do have some to offer on a first-come-first-served basis. The environment is very inviting and much seating in the commons area. Give them a try if you're looking for an OKC treat.
Today was the first time I've been to Prelude. Admittedly, I've had a single favorite coffee shop in OKC for the past few years but I felt like branching out today for something new. And I can't believe I didn't try it out sooner! I had both an iced and hot latte today and each had their own unique profile. And I found the baristas to be friendly! They have dairy free coffee options and the shop is wheelchair accessible.
Prelude Coffee Roasters has an exquisite espresso that I truly enjoyed. Their espresso tastes so good, they’re one of my favorite coffee shops. They are located in downtown OKC inside of a nicely decorated and modern concept dining hall with a good amount of seating. Here are the deets on the espresso: Roast: Medium, Toasty and Buttery with a hint of smokiness, fruit and/or floral aroma Taste: Delicious and smooth with no bitterness or acidity or aftertaste. Crema: Shining bright I ordered my go to Vanilla Oat Milk Latte Shhhh: Don’t tell no one but I went back for seconds in the same day because it was that good. Customer service was also top notch. I highly recommend Prelude for the latte lovers!!!
